Celluloid Heroes is back after another extended absence. It’s been a while so we’ll be catching up on everything that’s happened in the movie world over the last month, including the Oscars and our thoughts on Kingsmen: The Secret Service and Big Hero Six. Ed also semi-reviews this week’s Crime Against Cinema with 1932 Best Picture, Grand Hotel, and Jack gives us the low down on Julianne Moore’s triumphant performance in Still Alice.

Ho ho ho! It’s the Celluloid Heroes Christmas special.

This week, we review Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything, as well as the so-far-criticall-panned “hip hop remake” of Annie. 

We also talk Dumb & Dumber To and festive Britcom, Get Santa, as well as rounding up the year in film with our favourite flicks of 2014.

The BFI London Film Festival 2014 is now underway and this week’s show contains our second part of our coverage. Films include 2014’s Somalian pirate movie, Fishing Without Nets, Nas documentary, Time is Illmatic, a fine British Debut in Simon Baker’s Night Bus and Spanish relationship drama, 10,000km.
